The feedback from the scoresheets for WEEK 5 was as follows:
SCORES:
Winners:
9: Thatched House
8: Carleton Grangers
7: Olde Taverners, The Vic
5: Golden Lion Dudes
Non-winners:
8: King’s Arms
7: Featherstone Phoenix, Olde Tavern Allsorts
6: Kippax British Legion, Kippax Legionnaires
5: The Other Team
COMMENTS:
Olde Taverners: Interesting rounds but harder than usual.
[See Statistics below.]
Featherstone Phoenix: Some very specific rounds but overall OK.
[21st century films, Latin American history and History of Science were three of the round subjects.]
The Other Team: Lots of history questions this week.
[As seen above, two rounds contained the word ‘history’ in the title.]
Kippax Legionnaires: Wish we had gone ‘B’.
[Unanswered questions in the verbal team rounds were 7-6 in that match, thus showing the tiniest of imbalances in B’s favour. This was entirely due to the Latin American history round, which was 4-1, and a similar imbalance was shown in that round in other matches.]
Carleton Grangers (v Olde Tavern Allsorts): Good opponents. Good standard of quizzing. Thanks.
STATISTICS:
Bearing in mind the above comment about the quiz being harder than usual, here is a statistic that may be of interest (especially as all teams are playing every week, so there are no discrepancies due to teams having byes):
Average score from the first 4 weeks: 70.7
Average score this week: 71.5
So by this statistic it was very slightly easier this week, though the figures are remarkably close.
This week saw what I think was the first 15-0 round, as Thatched House whitewashed their opponents on Sculptures & Sculptors.
There were four answers in the verbal team rounds not got by anyone in the FTQL on the night:
Tuipulotu (Brothers called up for Scotland in Rugby Union)
Lidia Thorpe (Australian senator who heckled King Charles)
Cholera (Outbreak in Peru in 1991)
Pichincha (Battle where Ecuador gained independence, and Quito volcano)
