The feedback from the scoresheets for WEEK 14 was as follows:
SCORES:
Winners:
9: Lofthouse Lions
8: Olde Taverners
7: Olde Tavern Allsorts
6: Kippax Legionnaires
5: Flanagan’s Army
Non-winners:
8: Carleton Grangers
7: Featherstone Phoenix, Golden Lion Dudes
6: Kippax British Legion, The Vic
COMMENTS:
There were two main themes in the comments: another Netflix round (we had one a season or two ago, which also produced comment) and a pair of individual questions duplicated from last week. The latter were about CAMRA and Max Factor, and appeared in round 3 as A1 and B1 last week, and as B4 and A4 (i.e. the other way round) this week. The only difference in wording was that Max Factor was merely ‘known’ for Lipfinity last week, but has become ‘famous’ for it this week.
Olde Taverners: Evenly matched, interesting varied rounds, shame about the repeat individuals.
Carleton Grangers: But repeat question from last week!!
Kippax Legionnaires: Netflix questions – for those who can afford it.
The Vic: Poor performance – no excuses.
[The above comments were actually the wrong way round in the boxes, as confirmed by the context (a team winning 84-56 wouldn’t complain about their poor performance) and a check on the handwriting.]
Flanagan’s Army: A full round on Netflix – no thanks!!
Golden Lion Dudes: Repeats should not be happening.
Featherstone Phoenix: Duplicate Qs from last week.
Lofthouse Lions: Good mix, more Netflix!!
[I don’t know if the last two words are an observation or a request.]
STATISTICS:
I haven’t done a full balance analysis, as there was only one (positive) comment about it. But a quick glance at the match where that comment was made, and another match, suggests that things were pretty even.
There were as many as four answers not got by anyone in the FTQL:
Ovary (Part of flower’s pistil that develops into a fruit)
Mata mata (South American turtle with Amazon and Orinoco species)
Cuba (‘Pearl of the Antilles’)
Yantar (Russian spy ship in British waters recently)
